High-toned, red fruits, fresh cherries. Jolly Ranchers this isn’t. There’s a richness and depth of flavor without any cloying or overextractedness. The finish is long and the overall perception is one of freshness. Served with a chill this is as enjoyable as an aperitif as it is with the meal.
Description
Canaille Pinot Noir is a blend of two Santa Maria Vineyards: younger plantings from Rancho Ontiveros Vineyard and the old vine plantings from Rancho Vinedo Vineyard, planted in 1973. Both are farmed organically. The grapes are from two separate picks, fermented with native yeast and 40% whole cluster. The wine aged for 10 months in old French oak barrels and was bottled with minimal sulfur and without filtration.
