The DeSante 2018 Lâ Atelier is a celebration of summer with its aromas of nectarine, key lime and green gage plum. The palate shows a deft balance with its crisp spiced apple and peach flavors turning gently to a succulent finish of bruleéd red grapefruit. For a wine, this is a fancy balancing act of fresh acidity turning to a richly textured finish. Our 2018 is a blend of the following organic farmed (CCOF) grapes: Semillon 30%, Pinot Blanc 30%, Chardonnay 30%, Sauvignon Blanc 10%. Lâ Atelier, the artist’s studio was what our intern from Bordeaux called the little studio where we craft our wines. The small cave where we make our wines each vintage has seen its share of creativity. This notion of artistic invention, paired with a sense of style, is what fuels our passion for winemaking. That notion of creative endeavor and a reverence for the classic styles that have influenced our work is what inspires our bottling of Lâ Atelier, a blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Sauvignon Vert. Organic grapes harvested from the cooler, riverside area of Yountville gives Lâ Atelier vivacious aromas of citrus blossom, flint and fresh russet apples. The palate is balanced for summer fare with notes of key lime and fresh cut apple, giving way to a delicious saline finish. A special wine that is too good to resist, perfect for the warm days of spring and summer. Only 10 barrels produced.
