Fine Disregard Milhouse Semillon Oak Knoll 2016

The Milhouse Semillon is one of the most intriguing whites in the Fine Disregard portfolio — sourced from a block planted in 1992 on the southeastern edge of the Oak Knoll District in Napa Valley, where alluvial soils from the adjacent Vaca Mountains and daytime temperatures often ten degrees cooler than further up valley create ideal conditions for this underappreciated variety.

Adding further fascination: roughly ten percent of the vines are believed to be the rare pink-skinned Madeira clone mutation of Semillon, occasionally found in South Australia, lending an extra layer of complexity to the blend.

Whole cluster pressed, then barrel fermented in 75% neutral Burgundy barriques and 25% stainless steel. Spontaneous fermentation for both primary and MLF, with no batonnage. After twelve months of sur lie élevage, the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
