Hatton Daniels RBD Mokelumne Glen

The RBD is a wine born from a happy accident of the cellar. The Dornfelder, Blaufränkisch, and Rotburger (Zweigelt) were all harvested on the same day from Mokelumne Glen Vineyard. The Blaufränkisch and Dornfelder were co-fermented, while the Rotburger fermented separately. When tasting through the winter, the combination of all three grapes simply tasted better than either fermentation on its own — and so the RBD was born.

A blend that rewards curiosity: three Central European varieties, one California vineyard, and a winemaking decision driven entirely by what tasted best in the glass. Expect the lifted aromatics and spice of Blaufränkisch, the dark fruit depth of Dornfelder, and the juicy freshness of Zweigelt woven together into something greater than the sum of its parts.
