What is in the Box?
The Crowd Pleaser Wines
Antiquum Farm ‘ Daisy’ Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley, Oregon £30.60
A Gorgeous Oregon Pinot Gris – fantastic acidity and succulent texture. Amazing with maple glazed vegetables, turkey but would also cater for cheese boards and smoked salmon canapes
Subduction Red, Syncline Winery, Colombia Valley, Washington £24.50
A Beautiful Rhone blend from Washington State – such a steal! Syncline was introduced to me by my American family and I have been waiting for it to come over here. If you like Cotes Du Rhone, adore spice and intense fruit then this is for you. I can’t wait to have this with pigs in blanket!
The Food Friendly Finds
Kiona Winery, Riesling, Red Mountain, Washington State £11.00
Hand on heart, the best value wine from WA state out there. I adore this off dry style of ‘happy juice’ Riesling which brims with soft baked apple but has awesome acidity.
Fantastic with turkey, goose, all the Christmas trimmings especially pigs in blanket and I would love a glass with my pecan or pumpkin pie.
Fine Disregard, Grenache, Alexander Valley, Sonoma California £40.00
This old vine, biodynamic Grenache is spicy, juicy and brims with cranberry and redcurrant fruit. Made by a failed Rugby player I see this wine as a chiselled male ballet dancer – sculpted yet elegant. Perfect with cranberry sauce and all the festive offerings.
The Conversation Starters
Reason Wines, Clairette Blanche, Santa Barbara £30.60
Made by a skateboarder, this is a super cool, zippy, zesty wine made from a grape which can deal with heat. Therefore we will be seeing more of it from California thanks to climate change!
The Crane Assembly, Disciples Zinfandel Heritage Blend, Mendocino £54.60
This old vine Zinfandel blend hearkens to the blends made in the 1850s and is made by cutting edge entrepreneur and wine maker Dave Phinney and his friends. Figgy, juicy, deep and concentrated – discerning hedonism in a glass!
A One off Wine: A collaboration Kiona Vineyards, Pinot Noir and Lemberger blend, Oregon and Washington State “The Crab” – £61.20
Amazing blend of Lemberger (Blaufranksich) and Pinot Noir – with Oregon Pinot Noir and Washington State Lemberger grapes! A cross state collaboration which has beguiling floral and toasted pecan aromas combined with lush boysenberry fruit, silky tannins and pretty brightness. A combination of both my American and Austrian heritages with a stunning label! Is it a crab or a flower?!
