Description
This vintage from our Estate Vineyard planting is genuinely inspiring. Vivid with an aromatically dynamic character, beguiling aromas of desert parsley and hyssop reflect the surrounding native plants. The wine is balanced on a lively palate of fruits ranging from pomegranate to wild red currant and grilled ripe peaches. Fermentation with stems contributes to ripe tannins and white pepper characteristics.
Light and energetic, yet intense and packed with vitality, the lingering finish and purity of expression will entice you to reach for more. Steep Creek Ranch is our home vineyard. The Gamay Noir grows on a southern slope, the upper block above the winery, where we tend the vines with great love and care. The vineyard and all of our properties are managed with Biodynamic and Organic philosophy and practice. As a bottled embodiment of our passion for great vineyards, this is only the beginning of what we would like to showcase from our future estate plantings.
All fruit was hand-picked, with 100% whole cluster fermentation in a French concrete cube tank. Fermentation was with native yeast, no fining, and a blend of pump-overs and pigeage à pied. Free Run juice was kept separate for elevage in a French concrete cube.
Bottled August 2020.
