Learn More About Red Wine

Red wine is produced in many regions around the world, but some of the most highly regarded wines come from small production wineries in California, Washington and Oregon. The climate in these regions is ideal for grape growing, and the resulting wines are typically of excellent quality. These three states produce more than 90% of all American red wines but it pays to seek out a small production American wine from one of these three regions, which you will find is very different from what you might expect.

All of our red wine is sourced from small production growers, who have spent generations perfecting their product. These wines are often only made in very small numbers with many of our producers not making more than a few hundred cases of each wine.

There are many different styles of American red wine, ranging from light pinot noir type wines to the more rich and full-bodied.

The style of a red wine is determined by the grape variety used, the winemaking method, and the ageing process – an important factor in determining the final quality of a red wine.

Small production American red wine is typically made from a single grape varietal, and is produced in limited quantities. This allows for more focus on quality rather than quantity. The wines are often handmade, using traditional methods that have been passed down from generation to generation of winemakers, with great care and attention to detail, using only the finest grapes and barrels.

The most common red grape varieties used in America are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir. The resulting wines are complex and expressive, with a deep ruby colour and intense flavour.

Handpicked by our wine expert, who visits these regions extensively, they can be enjoyed on their own or paired with food, making them a versatile choice for any occasion.
