Figgins Estate 2016
When Chris Figgins planted this site, the Figgins Estate Red was the single-vineyard wine he dreamed of making. The 2016 vintage — released on the 10th anniversary of the inaugural 2008 — is unquestionably his favourite to date. A wine of explosive character and remarkable depth, it is already drinking beautifully while carrying the stuffing to age effortlessly for two decades.
An explosive, high-toned nose of mixed florals, vibrant candied cherries, freshly picked blueberries, and pencil shavings. The palate delivers layer upon layer of plum and dried figs, with a structure that is dense and plush in equal measure. Balanced, focused, and utterly compelling.
