Learn More About Walla Walla

Located in the southeastern corner of Washington state, Walla Walla has a climate that is perfect for growing grapes. With hot summers and cool nights this regions climate is about as optimal as it comes. The region’s soil composition also plays a significant role in the quality of its wines, featuring well-draining silt loams derived from ancient volcanic ash deposits, that lend depth and complexity to the grapes’ flavours.

These factors have led to an increasing number of small producers making exceptional wines, which have been rivalling some of Europe’s best offerings. Visitors to Walla Walla can explore over 120 wineries while enjoying breathtaking views of rolling hills dotted with vineyards and tasting rooms offering everything from bold reds to crisp whites.

Our producers love to receive visitors and share their incredible wines with you and we are always happy to help plan a trip, so please do get in touch if we can be of any help.

Wine pairing

When it comes to pairing food with Walla Walla Wines, there are several options that can enhance the flavour profile of both the wine and cuisine.

This region is renowned for producing some outstanding red wines like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. These rich and bold wines will pair well with hearty dishes such as grilled steaks, roasted lamb or venison, mushroom-based stews, and matured cheeses like blue cheese or aged cheddar.

For a lighter meal option, opt for the regions Pinot Gris or Chardonnay, which pair well with seafood dishes such as scallops, shrimp or scampi.

Additionally, Walla Walla’s Riesling is an excellent match for spicy Asian-inspired cuisine due to its natural sweetness balancing out heat from chili peppers in foods like Thai curries.
